The Wylie Pirates, after an 0-3 start last season, rode a 6-1 district record into the playoffs and a district championship. Although they lost to Prosper in the first round of the 6A playoffs, it was a successful season for the Pirates in their last season with head coach Bill Howard.
With Howard retired the Pirates will reload behind head coach Jimmy Carter after losing 16 starters. He was promoted from defensive coordinator and he coached a defense that the Pirates relied on during their district-run. Coach Carter understood the challenges he faces but believes his team has the pieces to be competitive this season.
