Collin College commencement slated for May 13

Collin College will honor the Class of 2016 with a commencement ceremony at 7 p.m., Friday, May 13 at the Allen Event Center, 200 E. Stacy Rd. in Allen.

Phil Dyer, former mayor of Plano and retired president of Legacy Texas Bank will deliver the commencement address. Dyer holds a bachelor’s of business administration degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a master’s of business administration degree from East Texas State University, now Texas A&M-Commerce. Named Plano Citizen of the Year in 1998, he served in the banking/financial services industry for 40 years.

Dyer has served the community via countless organizations such as the city of Plano Planning and Zoning Commission, North Texas Municipal Water District, city of Plano Parks and Recreation Board, United Way of Plano, American Red Cross of Collin County, Plano Community Home, Plano Chamber of Commerce, Plano Balloon Festival, Hope’s Door Women’s Shelter, The Medical Center of Plano and the Collin College Foundation.
