Leadership positions changed for the Wylie ISD School Board during their November board meeting as Board President Barbara Goss handed the gavel to the incoming president, Heather Leggett.

“I am extremely honored to serve this district,” Leggett said. “My husband and I have four children in Wylie ISD so I truly understand how the decisions we make impact families.”

Leggett said that when you look at all of the things the board has accomplished, it’s important to remember that none of it would have been possible if they hadn’t worked together as a team to do what is best for the children.

“I truly believe that the board and our administrators are the best team in our great state of Texas,” she said. “I have been fortunate enough to be involved as a board committee member on some special projects.”

As a board member she was involved in the design of George W. Bush Elementary and planning several events around the campus. As a member of the marketing committee, she shared the district’s story with business leaders across North Texas. Additionally, she traveled to Austin on multiple occasions to visit with state representatives, state senators and Governor Abbott.
