Children who may be on free or reduced lunch plans need not be hungry over the summer months. Local and surrounding area districts have provided opportunities to receive a healthy meal.

In Wylie, free breakfast and lunch will be served to those in the “Closed/Enrolled” LEP Program, English as a second language program. These students will participate in classes at Tibbals helping to improve their English.

In order for Wylie to provide lunch to all students who receive free or reduced meals throughout the district the state mandates that a district must have over 50 percent income eligible. In Wylie’s case there are only 28 percent who meet the state standards.

Children who meet free and reduced lunch eligibility can still be fed in surrounding districts. Parents can call 211 or text foodtx to 877-877 to find a list of available schools.

For a complete list of locations visit summerfood.org or call Theresa Johnson at 972-429-2335.
