Wylie ISD Honors “Golden” Substitutes

Wylie ISD announced the 2014-‘15 Golden Substitutes at a brunch held at the Education Service Center on Friday, May 9. More than 100 guests attended the event hosted by the Human Resources Department.

“Substitute teachers fulfill a vital role on our campuses by ensuring the educational process is uninterrupted when our teachers need to be away from school for professional training or to care for their families,” shared Scott Winn, Wylie ISD Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources. “We appreciate their dedication and love of our students.”

Each campus selected a top substitute for their campus and acknowledged them at the program. A district substitute nurse was also honored.

Those recognized include Lindsay Graham, Achieve Academy and Harrison Intermediate; Geraldine Okerberg, Akin Elementary; Deanna Borns, Birmingham Elementary; Kristen Wells, Cox Elementary; Katherine Griggs, Dodd Elementary, Charleen Bach, Groves Elementary; Susan Shuler, Hartman Elementary; Jason Peters, Smith Elementary; Jennifer Gamlen, Tibbals Elementary; Leanne Prater, Watkins Elementary; Elaine Ellis, Whitt Elementary; Cathy Skuza, Davis Intermediate; Cynthia Day, Draper Intermediate; Lela Brissett, Burnett Junior High; Norman King, Cooper Junior High; Johanna Strimpel, McMillan Junior High; Shanna Lucas, Wylie East High School; Mary Sellers, Wylie High School; and Paige Johnson, District Substitute Nurse.
