The spirit of giving isn’t far from the school districts mind with their new initiative “Spring into action for a Wylie Way Christmas” under way. The district began collecting for the initiative May 15 and will continue to hold collection sites at Cox, Groves, Hartman and Watkins Elementary Schools, Draper and Davis Intermediate Schools, McMillan, Burnett and Cooper Junior Highs, Achieve Academy and both Wylie High and Wylie East May 22.

The goal is to provide a new pair of shoes to each Wylie ISD student in need this upcoming Christmas, with a purpose of easing the amount of items asked from the community during the holidays.

The district asks interested donors to purchase a new pair of dress code appropriate shoes to donate to the drive, after collection the shoes will be stored in a secure location to be distributed during the Christmas season. In order to ensure diversity in sizes the district encourages interested participants to purchase the same size shoe as your student and bring it to their campus.

Elementary and intermediate campuses will collect at their Field Day events, all other campuses will designate a drop off point.
