Wylie Police are working with the U.S. Secret Service, state, federal and area law enforcement agencies in an investigation involving counterfeit currency that has been recovered in the area.

“We still have a very large scale investigation going on,” Sgt. Randy Hooker said.

Because the investigation is ongoing, Hooker declined to provide details on the denomination of counterfeit currencies found, but points out that the fake money has cropped up for several weeks at businesses.

“At this point, we stopped them in our area,” the sergeant said.

The Wylie officer advises area residents to carefully inspect any bills they receive and report suspicious currency to the police department.
