Raiders defeat North Garland

Wylie East’s boys basketball team moved to 2-0 on the season with a win over North Garland Tuesday, Nov. 16.

The Raiders started slow, trailing 7-9 midway through the first quarter. They closed the period on an 11-0 scoring run to lead North Garland by nine points. Both teams struggled to score in the second quarter, with Wylie East holding them to four points. They led 28-15 at halftime.

Wylie East matched North Garland perfectly in the second half. They scored 10 points in the third quarter to stay ahead by 13 points. In the fourth quarter, the Raiders scored 19 of the final 23 points to defeat North Garland 61-38. 

Freshman Parker Overstreet led Wylie East in scoring with 17 points. Nine Raiders finished with points.
