City doubles in 20 years; expected to top out at 17,000 in 2040
As Wylie nears buildout in the next few years, the next stop on U.S. 78 heading east is Lavon, which is experiencing a moderate growth pace within boundaries that encompass 1,145 acres.
The community had a population of 418 residents in 2000, grew to 2,219 over the next decade and is estimated at 4,210 today.
