Balancing the needs of Wylie against funding proved to be a difficult act for the city council last week as it conducted the first of several sessions to develop a new strategic plan for the future.
The session was held Monday, Jan. 14 at City Hall and ran a little more than three hours. Shorter versions will be conducted on city council meeting nights until the plan is completed.
The last strategic plan was developed five years ago. Council members last week started their work with a plan put together by city staff and forecasting out to fiscal year 2027-28.
“We looked several years ahead and made basic assumptions for growth,” City Manager Mindy Manson said. “We need council direction on revenue assumptions.”
