Patriotism, recognition of what the U.S. Marine Corps provided him and the blank side of a barn led Joe Falzone to commission a mural of the historic flag raising on Iwo Jima during World War II that is seen daily by thousands driving down Parker Road.
The mural was completed in Summer 2014 and has drawn hundreds to Falzone’s front door seeking a closer look of the life-size men and the United States flag that extends on a pole above the painting.
“I was watching TV one day and wondered if we could make a full sized painting on the side of the barn,” Falzone said.
