Just like in the board game Monopoly, the Wylie Economic Development Corp. board of directors negotiated and agreed to a price to buy a piece of property that completes a set, and that makes the whole more valuable.
The WEDC decision received a nod from the city council last week. Real estate closing documents are to be signed Friday.
Cost for the 1.23 acres on Hwy. 78 being purchased from Joe H. and Barbara J. Edge is $750,000, but other inducements bring the total cost of the deal to a little more than $2.4 million. The Edge property is the connector between two other tracts owned by WEDC and creates an undivided 4.7 acres for development in a prime retail area of town.
