Individual assistance in dealing with federal agencies such as Veterans Affairs and Social Security will be available to Wylie residents Wednesday, July 29, when the mobile office of U.S. Rep. Sam Johnson rolls into the area.

July mobile office stops are planned in Murphy, McKinney, Celina and Fairview.

“Constituents frequently contact my office because they require assistance with federal agencies, which can be very confusing if you are navigating steps alone,” Johnson said. “My staff and I are happy to help you in dealing with federal agencies and making requests on your behalf to make this process easier.”

Johnson’s staff can help with issues such as Medicare, VA, home foreclosure, Social Security and Internal Revenue Service.

The staff also can help with overseas adoptions, provide information regarding trips to Washington, D.C., offer application guidance to a U.S. Service Academy, assist with Congressional Youth Advisory Council applications and process requests to have American flags flown over the U.S. Capitol.

Constituents also may pick up nomination forms for Johnson’s annual Congressional veterans Commendation Ceremony held in fall. This program is designed to publicly recognize the wartime sacrifices and peacetime community involvement of Collin County veterans.

Mobile office times and locations this month are Celina, 9 a.m.-11 a.m., Old City Council Chambers, 302 W. Walnut St.; McKinney, 9 a.m.-11 a.m., McKinney City Hall, 222 N. Tennessee St.; Murphy, 2 p.m.-4 p.m., 206 N. Murphy Rd; and Fairview, 2 p.m.-4 p.m., Fairview City Hall, 372 Town Place.

In order for the congressman’s staff to make inquiries on constituents’ behalf, the Privacy Act of 1974 requires a privacy release be signed before the agency in contacted.

“Whatever the issue may be, I encourage people to visit the nearest Mobile Office location on July 29, but if you are unable to make it, you are always welcome to contact my Plano office at 469-304-0382,” Johnson said.
