Wylie resident and Vietnam War veteran Gene Close admits that he was a reluctant warrior who took all the training he could to delay being shipped overseas, but when he arrived in the war zone he did not hesitate to do his duty.
“Once I got there, I did what had to be done,” he said, “It was me or them all the time, and it was going to be them.”
