Vintage home gets some support

by | Mar 27, 2019 | Latest

One of the oldest houses in Wylie is not exactly undergoing a facelift, but it is currently sitting several feet above the ground on supports while its foundation is being repaired.

Maintenance on the Brown Cottage at 100 W. Jefferson Street, office of the F.O. Birmingham Memorial Land Trust, started in February and is expected to be completed in the next 6-8 weeks, land trust executive director Jon Lewis reported.

He noted that the project has been delayed several times since it was planned in 2016.

First delay was due to Hurricane Harvey in 2017 that took workers away from the Dallas area for cleanup efforts and repairs to homes and buildings in the Houston area. This past fall, a period of constant rain in North Texas delayed work on the cottage.
