Short distance, long project

Segment estimated for completion

Traffic along FM 2514 (Parker Road) out of Wylie will remain a bit of a mess for several years as projects to widen the road to four lanes are broken down into three segments with just one of those pieces currently under construction.

Crews are working on a stretch from Country Club Road in Wylie to N. Murphy Road in Murphy, 2.377 miles that is not estimated for completion until December 2020.

Cost of that piece of road is $16.9 million.

Texas Department of Transportation engineer Brenan Honey reported that work started in November 2018 and is ahead of schedule. Although it took some time to acquire easements, underground utility lines for the cities of Parker and Lucas are being moved to accommodate construction.
