‘Warrior’ gets new life

by | Jan 2, 2019 | Latest

After providing about a quarter century of service to Wylie Fire-Rescue, the firetruck known as “Warrior” recently took on a new role as a special services and parade vehicle.

Warrior is a 1992 Sutphen engine that served as a front line and reserve apparatus until about two years ago. What makes the firetruck special is that it was manned by the first paid firefighters hired by the city of Wylie, Battalion Chief James Brown, who was one of those firefighters, explained.

“We’ve used it a lot. It was probably one of the most dependable trucks we’ve had,” Brown said.

The chief also noted that because the truck was in service for so many years, it became well known by residents.
