Lake Lavon watershed protection plan outlined

Lake Lavon provides water for 1.6 million people in North Texas. It is filled from rainfall and through water flow from rivers and creeks in its watershed, an area of 768 square miles.

 North Texas Municipal Water District held a pair of information sessions last week to explain a new program to protect the watershed flowing into Lake Lavon and seeking volunteer stakeholders to help define and implement the program.

The meetings were held in McKinney and Tuesday, Sept. 20, in Wylie. About 50 interested area residents and public officials attended the Wylie session.
