A 29-year-old Wylie man, Benjamin Taylor Floyd, died Nov. 27 in Garland when his vehicle, a Hyundai Elantra, was swept away by floodwaters.

Floyd was on his way to work early Friday when he drove into high water on Campbell Road near Brand Road. Barricades had not yet been placed across the roads at the intersection.

The Wylie man managed to call 9-1-1 around 6:20 a.m. to report that his car had been swept away and that water was entering the vehicle, however, emergency personnel lost contact with him shortly after he made the call. (To read the full story, get your Dec. 2 copy of The Wylie News.)
