Business, nonprofits can seek assistance

Since a business assistance program to provide relief during the COVID-19 health crisis was reopened in mid June, the city of Wylie has received more than 40 applications from businesses seeking grants up to $5,000.

A second program to provide assis­tance to nonprofit organizations also has opened for applications.

Wylie City Council initiated the business assistance program in May with $301,000 available to qualifying applicants. The original program ran for two weeks and awarded grants to­taling $110,000. Last month, the coun­cil renewed the program with $750,000 available and removed some restric­tions.
