The sign in front of Fostering Hope changes to give notice of its needs for the Christmas season.

For the next few weeks, My Fostering Hope will be busy as volunteers round up and distribute Christmas gifts to 1,000 children in the Wylie area, as well as assisting some deserving military veterans and senior citizens during the holiday season.

“We only have 30 days until Christmas right now,” founder Karen Dupuis said. “It will be all hands on deck.”

The organization was founded by Dupuis and her husband, John, in 1999 when she started an effort to gather furnishings for a community center and wound up providing Christmas to 100 children in a public housing project in Rockwall.
