Raiders lose to Forney

by | Dec 7, 2021 | Latest, Sports

The Raiders lost their opener in the new Williams Center to Forney 62-56.

They were up by eight points with six minutes left in the first half before a Jackrabbits run cut the lead to 31-29 at halftime. Wylie East struggled to make their shots in the fourth quarter and trailed by nine points with just two minutes left.

The Raiders cut the Forney lead to two with 22 second left after scoring seven consecutive points. It wasn’t enough, however. After two Forney free throws, Wylie East turned it over, leading to a Jackrabbits layup en route to a six point loss.

Amari Griffin finished with a team-high 16 points.

The Raiders will compete in the Anna/Melissa/Van Alstyne tournament this weekend.
