Members of the Class of 2019 at Wylie East High School walked across the stage Saturday, May 25 to receive their diplomas and start a new chapter in their young lives.

Commencement ceremonies for the 452 senior students were held at Allen Event Center. The students entered the center to the strains of “Pomp and Circumstance” and exited to a recessional, both played by the WEHS band.

Graduating senior Grace Mathis offered opening remarks, the colors were presented by Air Force JRTC cadets and the national anthem was sung by the school choir.

Principal Mike Williams welcomed guests, Associate Principal Janet Wyatt recognized top 10 students, Birmingham Scholars, Distinguished Scholars and Honor Graduates, Counselor Amy Andrews recognized scholarship winners and Col. Brooks McFarland recognized students who have enlisted in the military.
