Wylie’s 1977 state champs celebrate 40th anniversary

The 1977 Wylie football state champions celebrated the 40th anniversary of the title-winning year this past week. Appearing at the Oct. 13 Wylie-Plan West game were, front row from left, coach Jerry Shaffer, coach Rick Page, coach Bruce King, Chuck Edge, Phyllis McDonald Rich, Mike Taylor, Sheri Welsh, Robert Martinez, Peggy Wallace, James Russell and coach Loy Dorsey. In the second row are (25) Lanny Tyson (standing in for Wayne Tyson who has passed), Dan Whitt, Randy Cox, Roy Fuentes, Dale Morgan and Bruce Cryer. In the top row are Jim Chaney, Jess Crowley, Lon Wallace, Rock King, Mark Whitehead, Danny Schultz, Bob Skipwith, Mike Helm and Ronnie Cross.
