Longtime Wylie Beauty Salon owner Wanda Uselton, who is retiring at the end of October, takes a moment to relax in her styling chair.

After almost 50 years on her feet working on hairstyles for the women of Wylie, Wanda Uselton hangs up her scissors at the end of the month.

As owner of Wylie Beauty Salon, 107 W. Oak Street, Uselton has seen hairstyles go from beehives that took as much as two hours for styling, to today’s simpler hairdos that take about 30 minutes for a shampoo and cut.

“It was big Texas hair when I started,” she said. “It has done some changing, let me tell you.”
