Golfers from Wylie and Wylie East concluded their seasons last week at the Region II-6A Tournament.
Wylie sophomore Serina Armendariz came closest among those four programs to qualifying for the Class 6A state tournament, finishing just one stroke short of an individual berth. Armendariz, fresh off winning the District 9-6A tournament for the second consecutive year, tied for 10th place at the Region II-6A tournament with a two-day total of 150. She will serve as an alternate for the state tournament.
Senior Nakshatra Sivaram turned in the second-lowest score for the Lady Pirates with a 169, tying Conroe Grand Lakes senior Grace Robinson for 29th place. Senior Reia Armendariz also concluded her high school career at the regional tournament, shooting a 173 to finish 36th.
Sophomore Emma Tran tied for 62nd with a 200, while freshman Caroline Scully finished 64th with a 202. Freshman Anya Briar finished in a three-way tie for 69th place at 213.
Wylie finished seventh with a 688 at Eagle’s Bluff Country Club in Bullard.
Sophomore Bailey Steiger represented Wylie East at the regional tournament, shooting a 190 to place 55th.
On the boys’ side, Wylie finished 11th with a 651.
Freshman Declan Collett and senior Carson Nash tied for 42nd with a 159. Sophomore Kannon Freudiger placed 53rd with a 163, senior Cooper Knapp finished 64th with a 170 and sophomore Carson Krumbholz placed 68th with a 175.
Wylie East senior Ethan Berg capped his high school career at regionals, placing 71st with a 177.
