After scoring six goals as a junior, Wylie senior forward Zach Alshali was ready to take on a bigger scoring load for the Pirates soccer team this year.
Alshali showed that he was ready for a bigger workload.
The Texas High School Coaches Association agreed.
For his efforts throughout the 2026 season, Alshali was named to the THSCA’s Class 6A Super Elite Team on Tuesday.
The right foot of Alshali provided a big offensive punch for the Pirates.
Named the unanimous Most Valuable Player of District 9-6A, Alshali increased his goal total to a team-high 21 this year and added three assists.
His production helped lead Wylie to a breakout season. The Pirates went 18-3-6 to qualify for the playoffs for the third consecutive season and went on to win two postseason games before concluding its season with a 2-1 loss to eventual Class 6A Division I state champion Klein Cain in the regional semifinals.
