Wylie East remains perfect on the season after a 17-3 win over Garland at Wylie ISD Stadium on Friday.
East’s defense held strong throughout, holding the Owls to a lone field goal early and giving the home team a short field to work with for its first touchdown of the game — an eight-yard run by senior quarterback Jaiden McLemore.
McLemore, Jonathan Utubor and Amarean Porter put up strong performances for the offense to seal the Raiders’ win. Utubor finished with 17 carries for 140 rushing yards and one touchdown. McLemore completed 16 passes for 209 yards and also ran for a touchdown. Porter caught 10 passes for 97 yards.
The Raiders (9-0 overall, 7-0 District 9-6A) held the Owls to just 42 total yards in the second half.
Wylie East will look to cap off a perfect regular season with a win over crosstown rival Wylie on Friday, Nov. 8 at Wylie ISD Stadium.
