Seniors at Wylie High School and Plano East Senior High have begun personalizing their reserved parking spots with colorful painted designs.
WHS had about 600 spots for students to purchase at $35 each and painting began Friday, Aug. 8.
Students were given guidelines to follow but the district does not require prior approval of designs, said Ian Halperin, director of community relations & marketing. “However, the design are checked to ensure that they meet the guidelines,” he said. “No drug, cigarette or alcohol references. G-rated content only.”
The painting tradition at WHS began in 2012 when Virdie Montgomery became principal, Halperin said.
PESH seniors also began painting their spots Aug. 8, but there was a limited number available, and the cost was pricier than Wylie.
