Wylie Animal Services recently announced a partnership with the Rowlett-based nonprofit Friends of Rescue Animals to benefit animals and the community. Having established partnerships with other local animal services departments, FRAs will now support Wylie through volunteer coordination, medical resources and community cat programs.
Animal Services Manager Chris Marren said the partnership will enhance existing programs while keeping the same daily operations.
“The goal is to expand Animal Services ability to serve both the animals in its care and the community,” Marren said.
The volunteer program of FRAs offers new opportunities for area residents to serve. Volunteer information can be found by contacting [email protected].
Marren said the organization also considers requests for emergency medical care and sponsors sterilizations for community cats.
“We look forward to seeing the positive impact this partnership will have on animals and residents of Wylie and we encourage anyone interested in adopting, volunteering, fostering or supporting the shelter to get involved,” Marren said.
Upcoming events for Wylie Animal Services include off-site dog adoptions from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, July 18, at the Walmart located at 2050 S State Highway 78. Through July 18, cat and dog adoption fees are reduced to $25 in celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. The annual Clear the Shelters adoption event is also approaching. Adoption fees will again be reduced to $25 during the month of August, and fees will be waived Saturday, August 29.
