Lady Raiders clinch fourth straight championship

The Wylie East girls basket­ball team has continued their run of dominance.

With one win separating them from a District 10-5A title outright, they battled away and came out on top in double over­time to win 68-60 over McKin­ney North on Feb. 2.

McKinney North, who would have tied Wylie East with a win, played with high intensity in a game that was showed physical play from both teams throughout. The Lady Raiders, showed their strength early, opening the first quarter with a 17-9 lead behind eight points inside from fresh­man LeAire Nicks. The young center has been key to Wylie East’s depth all season long and ended the game as one of the three Lady Raiders in dou­ble figures with 16 points.
