Wylie ISD students showcased months of hard work and preparation during the 59th annual Wylie Show & Sale, held March 22–28 at the F.O. Birmingham Agricultural Center.
The weeklong event featured livestock shows, student shop projects, horticulture entries and food competitions, continuing a long-standing community tradition that brings together students, families and local supporters.
Activities began Sunday, March 22, with judging for food, shop, horticulture and rabbit entries. Livestock competitions followed throughout the week, including broilers, lambs and goats on Tuesday, March 24, and cattle and swine on Thursday, March 26. The event concluded Saturday, March 28, with a buyer’s breakfast, parade of champions, senior walk and live auction.
Across all divisions, students earned top honors in a wide range of categories.
In horticulture, TJ Weir claimed Grand Champion honors with a first-place silk flower entry, while Bree Willoughby earned Reserve Grand Champion with a wreath and topiary project. Additional top finishers included Caleigh Nicholls and Reese Pyle in silk flowers, along with Ryleigh Thomason and Chloe Cooper in wreath and topiary entries.
Shop projects also drew strong competition. TJ Weir was named Grand Champion in the combo wood/metal category, while Kira Sears earned Reserve Grand Champion in wood projects. Ryan Parman took first place in metal, with Cash Welch finishing second.
In the food division, Charlee Wilson earned Grand Champion honors in cookies, while Carrick Wallis was named Reserve Grand Champion with a cake entry. Reese Pyle led the candy category, and Emory Reynolds took top honors in pies. Additional first-place finishes included Jack Meyer-Marietta in breads and Kaitlyn Boles in preserved savory items.
Rabbit exhibitors posted several standout performances. Adeline McKay earned both Grand and Reserve Grand Champion honors in market rabbits, while Charlee Wilson was named Grand Champion in breeding rabbits. Jillian Logan secured Reserve Grand Champion in breeding rabbits and also earned top placements in broilers.
In the lamb division, Juliet Salazar captured Grand Champion Market Lamb and Grand Champion Showmanship honors, while Makensie Hofstetter earned Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb and Reserve Showmanship.
Salazar continued her dominant showing in the goat division, earning Grand Champion honors in both breeding and market goats. Mimi Erwin secured Reserve Grand Champion Market Goat and Grand Champion Showmanship, while Abby Felthous earned Reserve Showmanship honors.
Swine competition featured multiple top finishes by Ryan Parman, who earned Grand Champion honors in both breeding and market swine, along with Grand Champion Senior Showmanship. Kolt Wallis was named Reserve Grand Champion in breeding swine, while Chloe Cooper secured Reserve Grand Champion Market Swine and additional showmanship honors.
In cattle, Bree Willoughby earned Grand Champion Market Steer, with Blaire Bryeans named Reserve Grand Champion. Ryleigh Thomason claimed Grand Champion Showmanship and also placed first in the heifer division.
