Pedestrian killed in Wylie crash; police investigating

Police in Wylie are investigating a fatal automobile vs. pedestrian crash that occurred Wednesday morning, March 18.

Officers responded around 10:53 a.m. to the intersection of Westgate and W. FM 544 after receiving reports that a vehicle had struck a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male lying on the ground.

Life-saving measures were performed by officers and Wylie Fire Rescue personnel, but the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Wylie Police Department’s accident investigators, along with the Criminal Investigative Division, responded to continue the investigation. The identity of the deceased has not been released.

Authorities said the driver involved remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

The area is expected to remain closed while police continue their investigation. No additional information has been released.
