Wylie senior Darian Romano and freshman Sade Mathes made a big splash in their first full season playing varsity basketball for the Pirates, with both players helping to lead their respective squads to a district championship and a playoff berth.
Coaches in District 9-6A recognized Romano as the Co-Offensive Player of the Year and Mathes was voted the district’s Newcomer of the Year.
On Tuesday, Mathes and Romano garnered additional postseason honors, with both players being named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches All-Region II-6A Team.
