Historical Society luncheon takes on patriotic theme

by | Mar 12, 2026 | Latest, news

The Wylie Historical Society will celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States at their annual spring luncheon. The event will begin in the Pondant Hall of St. Anthony’s Church at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 28. A patriotic outfit and hat contest, barbecue buffet and presentation by keynote speaker Tracy Lawson will be part of the festivities open to members and nonmembers alike.

“I will be speaking at the Wylie Historical Society’s Spring Luncheon not as the curator at Brown House, but as an author who writes historical fiction,” Lawson said.

As an experienced author of novels and children’s books based on the true stories of women during the American Revolution, Lawson will share about using family stories and letters to write historical novels.

The early bird ticket price is $45, and the price will be $50 after March 23. Tickets for ages 12 to 17 are available for $15 each. Each ticket includes an entry in the door prize drawing, but attendees can also purchase bag raffle tickets and participate in a silent auction.

Early founding documents from the Semiquincentennial of Freedom Exhibit will also be displayed. Those interested in seeing the exhibit outside of the spring luncheon can make an appointment with SMU’s Bridwell Institute by calling 214-768-4210.

The historical society encourages buying tickets in advance at wyliehistoricalsociety.org.
