Wylie City Council examined multiple property and zoning requests during its Tuesday, Oct. 28 meeting, deliberating on development plans and potential growth opportunities across the city.
Proceedings began with recognitions for members of Wylie Fire Rescue for lifesaving actions taken June 18 and Aug. 8. Additional honors were presented for Texas Arbor Day and several Shining the Wylie Way students.
After approving the consent agenda unanimously, council opened its regular business with a public hearing on a zoning change to allow a single-family residential development on just over four acres. Ron Haynes, owner and developer of Dominion of Pleasant Valley and applicant for the change, presented plans for the new neighborhood.
Haynes said the development would help improve street configuration and traffic flow in the surrounding area. Homes in Dominion of Pleasant Valley are priced between $515,000 and $1 million. The zoning request was approved unanimously.
Council next considered a zoning change for a 0.25-acre tract, shifting from single-family to allow a three-unit townhouse. Community Services Director Jasen Haskins explained that the property was originally zoned for multifamily use but had been rezoned to single-family in 2020 — a development that never occurred.
