The Wylie ISD Board of Trustees held three meetings over the past week—two special called meetings and one regular meeting—to address leadership changes and recognize student achievements.
During a special called meeting Tuesday morning, Sept. 23, trustees named Acting Superintendent Kim Spicer as the Lone Finalist in the district’s search for a new superintendent. Spicer is expected to succeed Superintendent David Vinson, who is leaving to take the same role at Conroe ISD.
The board previously met Monday, Sept. 15, to approve additional compensation for Spicer as she assumed the acting superintendent role. Trustees unanimously approved a stipend of $230 per working day, in addition to her current annual salary of $263,125.02.
Under Texas law, the names of all applicants for a school district’s superintendent position remain confidential until a finalist is selected. Once a lone finalist is named, the school board must publicly announce the selection at least 21 days before taking a final vote to hire.
