Council adopts budget, tax rate

by | Sep 4, 2025 | Latest, news

The Wylie City Council on Aug. 26 approved several major actions, including annexing property into a subdivision, adopting the city’s 2025-26 budget and setting the property tax rate.

Councilmembers voted to annex about four acres into the Dominion of Pleasant Valley subdivision, located south of Sachse Road and Pleasant Valley Road. The change will allow 19 additional homes, increase the number of larger residential lots and reduce some smaller ones, while keeping open space levels unchanged. The city also approved agreements with developer Wylie DVP Limited Partnership to outline services for the area. Ordinance 2025-31 finalized the annexation after a public hearing with no speakers.

Council also adopted the city’s $177 million budget for fiscal year 2025-26, which begins Oct. 1.

The budget covers all operating, debt service and capital funds, as well as the budgets for the Wylie Economic Development Corporation and the Wylie Parks and Recreation Facilities Development Corporation. It sets a property tax rate of $0.543438 per $100 valuation, the voter-approval rate for the year.
