Wylie and Wylie East boys and girls basketball competed in tournaments over the holiday break.
The Pirates were part of the Tommy Thomas Cougar Classic at The Colony, the Lady Pirates attended the Dallas ISD Holiday Invitational, the Raiders traveled to the Kaufman Holiday Invitational and Lady Raiders played in the Mansfield Spring Creek Barbecue Invitational.
The Pirates took home first place at The Colony after beating Lewisville 74-55 in the finale. It was the teams second tournament championship this season.
The Lady Pirates went 2-1 at Dallas, with wins over Dallas Hillcrest 83-24 and Mesquite Poteet 52-44, and loss to eventual tournament champion Dallas Lincoln 55-41.
The Raiders claimed second in the silver division at Kaufman after losing 67-58 to Sachse. Xavier Smith was named to the all-tournament team. They fell 52-49 to North Garland in the pool play opener, and rebounded with wins over Dallas Christian 59-47 in pool and Dallas Adamson 51-44.
The Lady Raiders went 2-2 at Mansfield. They defeated Denton Braswell 61-44 and Mansfield 57-36, and dropped to North Little Rock 59-36 and Arlington Martin 50-32.
