Raiders head into playoffs after historic win over HP

WYLIE — The Raiders enter the playoffs after concluding the regular season on one of the highest notes possible; they beat district co-champ Highland Park 20-9 at Wylie Stadium.

It’s the first time a Wylie-based school has defeated the Scots on the gridiron, and in doing so East (7-3 overall and 5-2 in District 15-5A) not only made history, but also gave itself a solid shot of confidence heading into this Friday’s bi-district encounter with 16-5A representative Marshall.

That begins 7:30 p.m. Friday a Class 5A, Region II first-round contest at McKinney’s Ron Poe Stadium.
