The Pirates’ baseball team closed out the 2015 season with a tie, a loss and then a win, while Wylie East split its final two games.

Wylie was tied 2-2 in the eighth inning with Sherman on Monday, April 27 before the game was ended due to rain, and it was decided not to continue it later.

The Pirates then fell 2-1 to Lovejoy on Wednesday, April 29 before closing out the 2015 campaign with a 5-0 home win last Friday over McKinney North.

The final win, which improved Wylie to 4-9-1 in District 10-5A, featured some good hitting, including doubles from Darius Carter, Nick Dayton and Ricky Freeman.

East, which won district a year ago but also graduated most of that team, fell 6-1 on Thursday, April 30 to Denison, but rebounded Friday to defeat Sherman 6-4 and finished 3-11 in district competition.

Prosper won the district at 14-0, followed by North (9-5) and then Lovejoy and McKinney (each at 8-6).
