Wylie City Council members spent much of their June 9 meeting reviewing early plans for the FY 2026-27 budget. The group also made board appointments and discussed a temporary location for the Wylie Championship Rodeo.
The council held a budget work session led by City Manager Brent Parker, who outlined revenue projections, spending pressures and several policy decisions that will shape the proposed budget scheduled for release June 23.
Parker said the city’s taxable value is projected at approximately $8.18 billion, a 1 percent increase over the previous year, with an estimated $127 million in new construction expected to generate about $740,000 in additional revenue. Sales tax growth is projected at 2 percent, reflecting slower growth than in recent years.
