Naaman Forest delivered the first blow Friday night, but what followed was an impressive display of defense by the Wylie East girls basketball team — one the Lady Rangers had little answer for and one in which the Lady Raiders asserted their dominance.
Wylie East blitzed Naaman Forest with a 22-0 scoring run that spanned more than 10 minutes of game time, starting from the 7:11 mark of the opening quarter through the 5:35 mark of the second quarter.
The Lady Raiders never relinquished control in a convincing 57-23 win over the Lady Rangers at the Williams Center.
“Those kinds of runs haven’t happened too much, but I have seen it more in district,” head coach Meaghan Hodapp said. “I’m really proud of them for that. But I’m focused more on the execution than the score. They did a really good job.”
Freshman Mychal Henderson finished with 14 points, while senior Sidney Sanders led all scorers with 16.
