Members of Wylie Fire-Rescue participated in the Dallas 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb at Renaissance Tower Sept 5. Each climber honored a first responder who lost his or her life in the attacks on the World Trade Center Twin Towers on Sept. 11, 2001.

Seven WF-R firefighters and one paramedic participated in the commemorative climb, which included events timed to coincide with the time at which American Airlines Flight 11 hit the North Tower and the moments when each tower fell. They climbed a total of 110 stories, the height of World Trade Center Twin Towers.

Firefighter Brandon Storm said, “We climb each step to honor a brotherhood, to pay respect to all those who sacrificed everything, to stand with those who still suffer the mental and physical struggles, and for the families who lost so much on the most tragic day in American history. Our involvement in the Stair Climb is just one of the ways we refuse to let the lessons and the tragedy of that day diminish. It is part of educating future generations and reminding our nation of what is possible when we do not Stand Together. Never Forget!”
