Area cities sales tax revenue rises

Murphy

The city of Murphy receives a sales tax reimbursement check from the Texas State Comptroller this month for $225,756, reflecting a 5.18 percent decrease from a year ago.

Reimbursements to Texas cities were distributed by the comptroller this month for taxes collected on retail sales made in April.

In July 2014, the check to Murphy was $225,756.

This year the city has been reimbursed $1.53 million, an 11.26 percent increase from the $1.38 million received for the same period in 2014.

Sachse

The city of Sachse receives a sales tax reimbursement check from the Texas State Comptroller this month for $155,796, a 20.19 percent increase from a year ago.

Reimbursements to Texas cities were distributed by the comptroller this month for taxes collected on retail sales made in April.

In July 2014, the check to Sachse was $129,620.

This year the city has been reimbursed $1.24 million, a 28.11 percent increase from the $969,031 received for the same period in 2014.

Wylie

The city of Wylie receives a sales tax reimbursement check from the Texas State Comptroller this month for $639,893, a 6.97 percent increase from a year ago.

Reimbursements to Texas cities were distributed by the comptroller this month for taxes collected on retail sales made in April.

In July 2014, the check to Wylie was $598,149.

This year the city has been reimbursed $4.95 million, a 14.15 percent increase from the $4.34 million received for the same period in 2014.

Statewide, the comptroller distributed sales tax proceeds to cities totaling $396 million this month, up 4.76 percent from the July 2014 total of $394 million.

So far this year, cities in Texas have received $3.03 billion in sales tax proceeds compared to $2.89 billion in 2014, an increase of 4.76 percent.

Cities in Collin County are reimbursed a total of $19.84 million this month, up 1.79 percent from the $19.49 million received from the comptroller a year ago.
