Council certifies election, recognizes first responders

Wylie City Council approved a series of infrastructure, financing and zoning items during its Tuesday, May 12 meeting after certifying results from the city’s uncontested municipal election.

The meeting began with certification of the previously canceled May 2 election, officially electing incumbent Mayor Matthew Porter, Place 5 representative Sid Hoover and Place 6 representative Gino Mulliqi. The election had been canceled because all candidates ran unopposed. Following certification, the elected officials took their oaths of office.

Later in the regular agenda, councilmembers unanimously approved Mulliqi as Mayor pro tem.
