The Wylie East girls soccer team has had its way with Mesquite Horn over the past two seasons, and that dominance continued Tuesday evening with an 8-0 win over the Lady Jaguars in the area round of the Class 6A Division II playoffs at North Forney’s Better Life Stadium.

The Lady Raiders built a 4-0 halftime lead before tacking on four insurance goals in the second half.

Wylie East’s offensive balance was on full display, with seven different Lady Raiders finding the back of the net, led by two goals from sophomore Seyi Ajakaiye. Senior Hannah Warren and junior Sophie Preston each had one goal and two assists. Senior Maddie Akers, senior Nikki Coleman, junior Laila Young and junior Isabella Cristales had one goal apiece.

Wylie East’s offense bombarded Horn’s defense to the tune of 20 shots on goal.

Goalkeepers Addyson Lomax and Hailey Fincher combined on a clean sheet in net.

Wylie East (21-4) will play Tomball (17-0-4) in the regional semifinals at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Waco ISD Stadium.

The Lady Raiders seek a fourth consecutive appearance in a regional final.
