In District 9-6A, Sachse and Wylie continue to pace the field, with both teams sitting at 6-1 in district play.
Wylie powered its way to a 22-7 win over Naaman Forest, marking its third straight game with at least 20 runs.
After falling behind 1-0 early, the Pirates responded with a nine-run first inning. Chase Martin highlighted the surge with a three-run double, while Aiden Beck added a two-run double to quickly flip the game in Wylie’s favor.
Martin finished with three hits, six RBIs and three runs scored, while Noah Smith added three RBIs, two runs and a walk.
Earlier in the week, Wylie’s pitching staff dominated in a 20-0 win over South Garland. Cooper Watts, Nash Cooper and Alejandro Morales combined for a no-hitter, with Watts striking out eight over three innings.
The Pirates’ offense backed that effort with a 12-run first inning, sending 19 batters to the plate. Martin, Cullum Doan and Koji Paul each delivered key RBI hits, while Smith and Maddox Johnson recorded two hits apiece in a 12-hit performance.
Sachse had to dig deep to hold off Wylie East, earning a 7-4 road win in a tightly contested matchup.
Wylie East erased a 4-0 deficit, highlighted by a game-tying solo home run from Levi Scroggin to open the sixth inning. However, Sachse answered in the seventh, scoring three runs to regain control.
Jacob Ponce delivered the go-ahead RBI single before William Martin and Julian Moreno added insurance with RBI groundouts following a Raider error. Ponce led the Mustangs’ offense, going 3-for-4 with four RBIs and a home run.
Despite the loss to Sachse, Wylie East (4-1) picked up a convincing 10-0 win over North Garland earlier in the week.
Andrew Garcia sparked the offense with a two-run double in the third inning, giving the Raiders a 3-0 lead. Trent Jones handled the rest on the mound, tossing four scoreless innings with four strikeouts.
