The Wylie Pirates continued their strong season Friday night, defeating cross-town rival Wylie East 3-0 in a District 9-6A matchup.
Zach Alsahli led the way for the Pirates, scoring two goals in the first half to give Wylie an early advantage. Logan Montgomery added a second-half goal as the Pirates improved to 16-2-6 overall and 12-2-2 in district play.
Wylie head coach Scott Dillon said he is proud of the way his team has responded throughout the season and continues to build momentum heading into the playoffs.
“I’m really proud of the way our guys have responded all season,” Dillon said. “This is probably the best team I’ve had here in terms of chemistry, skill, work ethic and character. They’ve bought into everything we’ve asked them to do, and now we’ve got to get ready for next week because that’s a big one.”
Wylie will play Rockwall-Heath in the bi-district round of the playoffs at 7 p.m. Friday, March 20 at Wilkerson-Sanders Stadium in Rockwall.
