Wylie wins unequipped region title for 3rd year in a row

For the third year in a row, the Wylie girls powerlifting team has won a regional championship in unequipped powerlifting.

Wylie scored 29 points in the Region 6-6A Meet Wednesday, five points ahead of second-place Mansfield Legacy (24).

The Lady Pirates qualified four lifters for the state meet.

Kadmiel Godoy won the individual regional title at 97 points.

Juliet Clay captured first place in the 105-pound weight class division.

Nataly Rivera and Merry Gebreselassie earned second place at 123 pounds and 148, respectively.

Cayton Wright earned third place in the 242-pound plus division. Kristina Restrepo placed fourth at 148.
